Basketball Footage

When adding basketball footage to your basketball player profile, make sure that it is recent. When you can choose between many games, try to choose the one with the best production quality, for example, a TV game. A professional TV production is much better than a game that was taped by a family member or friend, even if your individual performance in the TV game was less impressive.

The level of the game is also important. A solid game against a respectable opponent will make a better impression than a super game against a weak opponent. Make sure that the basketball footage you choose is a true reflection of your game. Avoid games in which you play out of position. Don’t post practices, individual workouts, or pickup games. Such footage garners little or no interest.

You can post highlight reels in addition to full games, but please observe the following rules of thumb:

  • Don’t only show spectacular dunks. Instead, show different elements of your game, both offensively and defensively.
  • If you add music to the highlight reel, please choose something neutral. Not everyone’s taste in music is the same and this is especially true when you are dealing with an international audience.
  • Don’t make it too long. A reel that lasts 10 minutes or more loses its purpose and appeal – two to five minutes should be enough.
